I, Aman Chotani was sitting with my friends in the breathtaking landscapes of Ladakh when one of them, Jigmet Rabgais casually mentioned a monk who could fly. Intrigued, I leaned in closer as he shared his story about the Tsomoriri Monastery. There, he had heard a sound that resembled someone landing softly on the terrace. Moments later, a monk came rushing downstairs, breathless. He said it was the flying monk, a figure woven into the fabric of local legend.
Whether this tale is rooted in myth or reality, it struck me how incredible it is that such stories thrive in India—stories of faith and belief. The spirituality here runs deep, and the narratives people embrace are nothing short of extraordinary. It’s as if they inhabit a magical realm where imagination shapes their reality. This is what I adore about India: the rich cultures and the countless tales that echo through time.
Captivated by these narratives and the power of belief, my journey began—a quest to find this elusive flying monk. I searched high and low across both Spiti and Ladakh, I never encountered him. Instead, I discovered something profound: anyone can be a flying monk; it’s all about belief. We all have the ability to soar; we just need to envision it.
